Cisco Learning & Certifications Lab Portal - Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which browser should I use to access the Cisco Learning & Certifications Lab Portal?

A. Mozilla Firefox or Chrome are the recommended browsers to access Cisco Learning & Certifications Lab Portal training when using a Windows PC. While Internet Explorer or Edge may work for the majority of the labs, Chrome and Firefox are the target browsers for development of content and as such receive the greatest support and QA testing. Safari is the recommended browser to access content when using a Mac computer.

Q. Do I need any special browser settings? What do I do if the labs are not ending correctly or pop-ups are not being displayed?

A. The lab portal will not work correctly with JavaScript disabled. Please ensure you do not have JavaScript blocked in your browser. Additionally, ensure that pop-ups are allowed for https://technicaleducation.cisco.com, and that any firewalls or rules allow you to access the lab portal site.

Q. I haven't received my lab email after scheduling a lab. What do I do?

A. Lab spin-up times may vary; most labs will spin up within 30 minutes. Please wait for the lab email to be sent after the lab has fully spun up. Also, check your spam/junk email folders, and ensure you do not have any firewalls or rules blocking emails from *.cisco.com. If you still have issues, please contact support.

Q. I am able to access and schedule labs; the labs spin up correctly but when I click on a device, I get a blank page with a message about connection timeout. What do I do?

A. If you are having issues connecting to devices within a lab page, please check that you are OFF the Cisco corporate VPN(s) and/or network. Ensure you are not on any other VPNs that might have policies that block device connections, and ensure your firewall settings allow connections to clab*.cisco.com (e.g. - clab3.cisco.com, etc).

Q. If I have issues accessing Cisco Learning & Certifications Lab Portal because of redirects or page timeout in my browser, what should I do?

A. Please clear your browser cookies for All Time by opening your browser History > Advanced and choosing 'Delete Cookies'; if your browser offers a Time Range to clear, choose 'All Time'.

Q. How many times can I access the labs for my course?

A. Lab access correlates to the duration of your online learning subscription. You may access labs anytime during your subscription period.

Q. Can I save changes made within a lab exercise for later use during the course?

A. Yes, for labs that allow this option. Upon completion or exiting the lab, you MUST click on the "End Session" button to save the changes made during the lab exercise. If the lab environment is ended without clicking the "End Session" button, your changes WILL NOT be saved. When starting another lab exercise you will be presented with the option to start the lab exercise with the configurations you saved.

Q. May I share my login information with my colleagues?

A. No. Your account in Cisco Learning & Certifications Lab Portal belongs to you. It is not transferrable.

Q. I have feedback about this program or site. How can I submit it?

A. You may use the Contact Us link in the top navigation bar of every portal page, where you can provide any feedback you wish.

Q. How do I schedule a lab?

A. You can schedule a lab by clicking on the Reserve a Lab button under the Overview tab of the Lab information page. This will take you to a page where you can schedule the lab immediately.

Q. Who do I contact if I cannot access a lab or a title?

A. Please contact Lab Support.

Q. Why are certain multimedia labs failing to load or displaying incorrectly?

A. While Firefox is the recommended browser for Windows PCs, there is a very small amount of legacy content that utilizes Windows Media format multimedia, and as such will only work correctly in Internet Explorer. In these cases your browser will display a warning message.
